Program Description

Event Details

Chinese New Year is on February 12, 2021. Celebrate the Year of the Ox with a plate of dumplings. Join us for a Zoom dumpling making class, where you will learn how to make dumplings and wontons. You will see how easy it is to make the fillings, the basics of folding and the different cooking methods. Dumpling filling recipes will be given ahead of time for you to prepare so you can fold the dumplings along with Mary.

Mary Lee-Brody is a freelance recipe developer, editor and cooking teacher. Her clients have included Kraft Foods, McCormick Spice Company and Time Inc. Food. She also volunteers as a chef at the Enfield Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, she makes her home in Simsbury.

Dumpling wrappers will be available for you to pick up at the Main Library at the Lending Services desk on the following days:

Monday, February 8,

Tuesday, February 9,

and Wednesday, February 10.

Please note: Wrappers are frozen and will have to be transported to a freezer soon after pickup.

***Please see instructions for thawing dumpling wrappers and recipes for dumpling and wonton fillings attached in a Word document on the event listing. If you cannot locate the document online, please email Tara McLeod at tmcleod@farmingtonlibraries.org for a copy of the document.***
