ALL AGES WELCOME!

Layavinyasa School of Dance and Music, led by Sarada Nori Akella, will demonstrate Kuchipudi dance, including the hand gestures, or mudras, rhythmic patterns, and facial expressions used in this dance form.

Sarada Nori Akella is an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer with a Master’s degree in Arts. She is a disciple of Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar. Dr.Vempati Chinna Satyam, Sri Ravi Shankar's father, is known for his single minded goal of establishing Kuchipudi as a recognized classical art form. Sarada has imbibed the nuances of Kuchipudi at Kuchipudi Art Academy - Madras and Hyderabad for over 15 years. She has also been trained in Carnatic classical music for over 10 years. As a solo and a character artist in dance ballets, Sarada has performed at several events including the International Festival of Arts and Ideas at Yale. Sarada was sponsored by the Government of India to perform in Kuchipudi dance ballets in Singapore and Mauratius. She is a graded artist on Doordarshan and performed for Indian media outlets.  As the founder and director of Layavinyasa school, she has been teaching in Glastonbury and Newington since 2012 .
